Meet the Community EP1
Tyler Crandall and Misha Crandall from Dsantos Dance Ca
Meet dancers from around the San Fransisco bay area! Dance is more than a few dance steps, dance is the journey that one takes to get there. In this video series we meet local dancers that love to share the art of dance. We all have our reasons why we dance, see how these skilled individuals became who they are today. Stay tuned for EP2 next week with (Jami Fitzgerald) |

The Instructors
Tyler Crandall
Tyler is the director and owner of Dsantos Dance CA and is the founder and former owner of the Vermont dance company, DsantosVT. Tyler has been a dancer since 2002, where he started as a social salsa dancer, who's weekly persistence in classes and social dancing brought him into the realm of teaching dance in 2007. In 2010 Tyler expanded his repertoire of dance beyond Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata to include Kizomba, Semba, and Kuduro. Tyler ran DsantosVT from 2011 to 2016, hosting monthly socials, teaching weekly classes three days per week, and performing and teaching at schools, company events, and weddings. Our Dsantos success has come from the inclusive environment focused on getting every student through the moves shown, all while having a lot of laughs. |

Misha Bailey
When Misha discovered DsantosVT in 2014 she immediately fell in love with partner dancing and the unique sensuality of Latin and African dances. She also fell in love with the profound aspects of "following" in these dance forms. She has performed in Montreal, Los Angeles, Seattle, Barcelona, and on the Aventura Dance Cruise. She is passionate about the mission of Dsantos Dance, and thrilled to bring this to her home community in Sonoma County. Misha began studying dance at the age of four, focusing on ballet and modern dance. Ever since she has loved the transformational power of movement, and sharing this empowerment with others. In college she studied modern dance intensively, training in Graham and Release technique, with some of the leading artists in those genres. She understudied for the Joe Goode Performance Group, performed with Ellis Wood Dance for five consecutive years in San Francisco, and traveled and performed with the Bay Area Repertory Dance Company. In 2010 she joined the Big Action Performance Ensemble (BigAPE) in Vermont, directed by Tiffany Rhynard. With BigAPE she had the opportunity to perform "Everyone Can Dance" throughout Vermont in 2011. |
Jimmy "JSmooth" Bui
In 1999 Jimmy began to take salsa lessons from instructors in the bay area. Rather than sticking to just one instructor, he educated himself with classes from a variety of instructors very early on. Lessons offered from dancers such as Josie Neglia, Alex D'Silva, Jake Jacobs, and Jean-Carlo helped shape a dance style that was unique to him. Since August 2002, Jimmy has been an instructor of Salsa and Bachata dance at his startup non-profit, J Smooth Salsa. Based at the Miraido Studio in San Jose, he has made many contributions to his community by offering free dance lessons, donating time and money to various organizations, participating in youth guidance programs, and supporting many of his peer dance instructors through assistance or advertising. In 2007 Jimmy began to take Bachata lessons from Bachata pioneer Rodney Rodchata Aquino. The years of experience have enabled to dance all forms of Bachata which include Dominican, Modern, and Traditional while teaching his own style of Bachata. Now a seasoned dance instructor and entrepreneur, Jimmy devotes his attention to event management and guest dance instructions. |
